Language and Reading Disorder Evaluations

Our Evaluations

Insightful assessments in a calm environment.

Our Language and Reading Evaluations

At Educational Inspiration, we offer thorough evaluations for language, reading, writing, and spelling. Our assessments typically involve four to five hours of testing across two sessions. When warranted by results, we may diagnose developmental language disorder, specific reading disorders (such as dyslexia), a disorder of written expression, or other related conditions.

We also provide re-evaluations to monitor progress following an initial diagnosis and treatment period. These sessions generally take 2-3 hours and are completed in a single session.

What to Know About Dyslexia and DLD Evaluations

Why Is an Evaluation Important?

An evaluation is a big step. We strive to provide a comfortable atmosphere and positive testing environment for your child.

Our evaluation can help your child learn why some things at school might be hard. It can also provide ideas to parents and teachers about how to be even more amazing!

Because our evaluations may provide a language or reading disorder diagnosis, they can help your therapists and/or tutors create a treatment program tailored just for you.

Aren’t All Tests the Same?

Not all tests are equally good at diagnosing. There’s a special idea called “diagnostic sensitivity” that helps us know how good a test is at identifying disorders.

Some tests are good at this. Other tests don’t share this information, and that makes it impossible to know whether or not it can reliably identify disorders.

When tests don’t include sensitivity information, or they have poor sensitivity, they can still be used to gather important information, but shouldn’t be solely relied on when making diagnostic decisions.

What Sets Educational Inspiration Apart?

We specialize in just one important area – comprehensive evaluations of language, reading, spelling, and writing.

Comprehensive Evaluations

At Educational Inspiration, we take a thorough, personalized approach to evaluating your child’s needs. Nicole, an experienced speech-language pathologist and reading specialist trained in structured literacy, evaluates language, reading, and spelling abilities—looking at all areas important for good reading.

Our process goes beyond just standardized tests. We also gather family history, include examples of the child’s work, and carefully analyze both spoken and written language to get a full picture of your child’s strengths and challenges.

This unique approach helps us provide meaningful insights that support families, teachers, tutors, and other specialists in creating personalized plans. Working with us means you’ll gain the tools you need to advocate for your child, ensuring they receive the best possible care.

We are a boutique clinic, meaning we dedicate time and attention to each family. This personal approach ensures the evaluation process is detailed and collaborative, making your investment in our services truly valuable as we work together to help your child reach their fullest potential.

We strive to empower families with the knowledge needed to confidently advocate for their children and help them reach their full potential.
